Veterans Resource Locator

(Program)

* VA Suicide Prevention Coordinators (SPC) are specialized case managers who ensure that veterans at high risk of suicide receive the care they need. Furthermore, they are involved in training and education, both within the VA and in the community. The new VA suicide prevention initiative has placed more than 150 Suicide Prevention Coordinators nationwide, all of which are licensed mental health professionals.

* VA Medical Centers consist of acute care facilities and community based outpatient clinics. Services may include: psychiatry, intermediate medicine, extended care, homeless and alcohol/drug abuse programs, cardiac rehabilitation, nuclear medicine, radiation oncology, nursing home and respite care.

  • Additionally, assistance with employment issues can be accessed through a VA Medical Center by requesting a Community Employment Coordinator and assistance with legal matters can be obtained through a Veterans Justice Outreach Coordinator.

* Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) contribute to cost containment by making quality health care affordable and accessible to veterans outside VA's core medical services. CBOCs reduce travel time and shorten waiting times for veterans needing outpatient care. Some of CBOCs services include: primary care, group and individual counseling, laboratory analysis, prescriptions and radiology.

* The Veterans Benefits Administration Offices (aka Regional Offices) support the VA Vision to provide veterans the world-class benefits and services they have earned. Services may include: compensation, pension benefits, vocational rehabilitation benefits, home loan guaranty, death benefits, employment benefits and special benefits for the disabled.

* Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling and outreach services to all veterans who served in any combat zone. Services are also available for their family members for military related issues. Veterans have earned these benefits through their service and all are provided at no cost to the veteran or family.
