New York State School for the Blind

(Program)

* Provides residential programming Sunday-Thursday for students who reside more than a 50-mile radius from the school. Works in collaboration with outside agencies including the NYS Commission for the Blind. Students receive both Regents based classroom instruction and alternate education based on cognitive, social, and developmental abilities, for children and youth who are legally blind and who have at least one additional disability.  

Eligibility: Ages 5-21 years. Legally blind and have at least one additional developmental disability.

Application Process: Visit Website. Must have a referral. By appointment. Call for more information.

Required Documentation: Proof of legal blindness and disability.

Fees: No fee to families.
