Gives senior citizens the opportunity to share their lifetime skills, talents, and abilities with youth with a developmental and/or learning disability. Foster grandparents can spend 15 to 40 hours each week at local elementary schools, daycare centers, and head start sites, giving one-to-one attention, encouragement, and support to children needing assistance in overcoming physical, mental, social and emotional obstacles.

Companions primarily provide in-home friendship and companionship, but also can alert doctors and family members to potential problems, assist with shopping and meal preparation, and provide respite services to family members and caregivers.
