Ombudsman Services
(Program)
- Will listen to residents' concerns, comments, and opinions.
- Will advocate to ensure the highest quality of care for residents of long term care facilities.
- Will work to resolve conflicts between residents and the long term care facility and help to develop collaborative solutions and resolve resident related concerns with the long term care facility.
- Will investigate complaints and make appropriate referrals.
- Will analyze, comment on and monitor the development and implementation of Federal, State and local laws pertaining to the residents of long term care facilities.
- Will educate residents, family members and staff about resident’s rights and available resources.
Eligibility: Resident of a long term care facility, or legal guardian of a resident in a long term care facility.
Application Process: Call for appointment.
Required Documentation: Authorization from resident for program to resolve concerns.
Fees: Free service to local long term care residents.
Herkimer, Madison, Otsego and Oneida Counties.
